About HomeVestors

HomeVestors of America, commonly known as We Buy Ugly Houses®, is the number one home buyer in America. Since HomeVestors began its franchise in 1996, We Buy Ugly Houses / HomeVestors® independently owned and operated franchise owners have purchased over 60,000 houses throughout the US. Typically, HomeVestors franchise owners pay cash for ugly homes that often have their owners in difficult situations. Generally, our franchisees renovate houses and then sell or lease them. This improves neighborhoods in the process and offers great opportunities for first time buyers, renters, and real estate investors. With approximately 600 franchisees independently operating in 44 states, HomeVestors commits itself to enforcing high ethical standards and strict systems that result in responsible business practices. We are proud of the service we provide that helps homeowners and people who would like to start their own independently owned and operated business.

Our HomeVestors® Franchise Model

HomeVestors offers a low cost franchise opportunity for investors interested in building an independently owned and operated real estate business. Our unique model includes proprietary software that our franchisees use to assess homes for purchase and renovation. Our franchise opportunity also includes mass advertising billboard campaigns that achieve quick market awareness and direct selling programs that help franchisees identify and locate interested buyers and investors in specific neighborhoods. With ongoing support from HomeVestors and our development agent mentors, franchisees purchase houses at discount prices. Our franchisees either renovate and sell or renovate and rent properties they buy, which can generate a positive cash flow and equity. We Buy Ugly Houses/HomeVestors franchisees must complete our intensive training program. It incorporates our systems for buying homes as well as good business standards. Our franchisees learn how to deal with homeowners who may be in an ugly situation, how to explain our home buying process, and how to carry out "as-is" all cash buyout deals that can create a profit for franchisees while helping a homeowner get out of an ugly house.

Honors and Awards

In 2015, Entrepreneur Magazine ranked HomeVestors of America number 127 on their “Franchise 500” list. We have also been ranked 19th on Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2015 “Fastest Growing Franchises”. The Franchise Business Review named HomeVestors® to its prestigious “Top 50 Franchises” list in 2015 for the tenth consecutive year, a distinction awarded to franchisors with the highest level of franchisee satisfaction.

Meet UG the Caveman

We Buy Ugly Houses® / HomeVestors® has one of the most charismatic mascots of any franchise today. UG LEE – UG for short – might have been born in a cave over one million years ago, but he showed up in HomeVestors founder, Ken D’Angelo’s, dream one night. Ken had many great ideas during his lifetime, but HomeVestors and UG were definitely two of the best. Introduced by Ken to our HomeVestors franchisees in 2003 during our annual convention in Las Vegas, UG’s announcement featured a life-sized dinosaur. UG has his own Facebook page where he enjoys quite a following.
